What is Gold Vermeil? How is it different to Gold Plating?

Gold Vermeil is not to be mixed up with normal gold plating… it is a thick layer of solid 18ct Gold on top of Sterling Silver base, meaning you get the look and feel of solid gold at a fraction of the price!We use 18ct gold that is a minimum of 2.5 microns thick, as required by the Federal Trade Commission to classify vermeil, layered over sterling silver. Your gold vermeil jewellery should be perfectly for a long lasting Promise with the right care.Did you know? Plating as thin as 0.1 microns can still be classed as Gold Plated!? Our plating is 25 times thicker than this (crazy right)
